About Me

Born and raised near Aberdeen, Washington, Allan Koidahl has worked with wood much of his life. North River Farm in Grays Harbor has been in his family for several generations and grows deciduous and hardwood trees and a fruit orchard.
Allan is interested in the unique patterns of various woods. In his new studio/gallery he turns wood into beautiful and useful items. He allows green wood to dry from 6 months to 2 years, studies the grain and then selects and cuts the blocks. Then, with careful turning and gentle sanding, rubbing and waxing, he creates the shapes and forms you see.

Allan is a member of the American Association of Wood Turners, has been a demonstrator and teacher; a past board member at the Blue Whole Gallery in Sequim, Washington and has sold his artwork at the Pikes Place Market in Seattle. He is currently showing at Dockside Gallery in Westport, and Quilt Harbor in Aberdeen,  and is part of the Artists On The Map in the Grays Harbor Area.

You give Allan a concept and he will return with a masterpiece. Not only will he create designs of his own, but if you show him an idea he will duplicate your thoughts on wood.
